Pickup Artist
The term Pickup Artist is used to describe a man well versed in the art of seducing women he has had no prior involvement with: therein the definition goes some way in making the distinction between womanizers who have no structure in what they do and trained pickup artists.
A good pickup artist will make sure that for every eventuality they face when encountering a woman that they are interested in seducing, they have a solution. The strongest characteristic that a pickup artist holds over and above otherwise perfectly able Lotharios is that they are trained to be comfortable in situations that may lie outside of their normal comfort zones. For example, take a University student who is capable of seducing numerous young women on campus to an environment he is not adapted to, for example, a high-end London bar and you’ll notice he finds himself out of depth and unable to recreate the same feats.
A Pickup artist will follow structured methods to seduce women from the moment they meet them to the bedroom. Though they have this is common, the methodology itself varies vastly from man to man. There are various strains that fall under Direct or Indirect categories. ‘Direct Game’ is used to describe the practice of conveying sexual interest in a woman upon approaching her. Theory states that the confidence displayed by a man so forward in his advances will generate attraction from the woman’s perspective. It is in this direction that the seduction community as a whole has been moving towards of late. Critics argue, however, that displaying sexual interest in a woman contravenes social status quo to the degree that it actually scares women off and makes them uncomfortable.
Pickup artists who are proponents of a more Indirect strain of seducing women will instead follow a rule of thumb that dictates that in order to gain attraction from a desirable woman a man must display attractive attributes before being allowed ‘permission’ to seduce the target. This has come in for harsh criticism of late because by its very nature this method holds intrinsic the idea that men are of lower worth than women when it comes to determining relationships.
