Spin like a pro! Dancing Tips for the Tiny Dancer

Above is a step -by-step run through of my basic spin, it’s a very simple but effective move wich can be used as a transition move or simply on it’s own. Simple as it seems, when it’s executed well it can become a strong part of your repertoire, setting you apart from the ‘one-size-fits-all’ guys who a)don’t dance or b) do that same swaying/swinging arms movement.

Step 1: Point the toes of your dominant foot (in this case my right foot) into the direction which you intend to spin

Step 2: Step into the spin on your toes, angling your foot as far into the direction that you intend to spin as possible (notice the build of tension in your hips)

STEPS 3 THROUGH 5 MUST BE CARRIED OUT SEAMLESSY TO ENSURE A SMOOTH SPIN

Step 3: Release the tension in your hips and step down hard on to the heel of your dominant foot (right foot) whilst simultaneously stepping onto the toes of your left foot – causing you to begin spinning.

Step 4: You will now reach the point at which yur legs are ‘scissored’ with your dominant foot at the rear

Step 5: Quickly whip your dominant foot forward and place it parallell to your left foot to end the move. It’s very mportant to step firmly at this point because this movement will kill the momentum of the spin and allow you to stop.

When executed correctly this looks super-smooth and will definitely set you apart from the bunch. I suggest that you practice a few times daily and you should be able to get it down within a few days… Good luck!

how you gonna try to teach dancing with pictures man?!!?!? hahah

most guys hate (or don’t know how to) dance.. you gotta put up a spin move tutorial youtube!!! soulja boy style!

  2. Onder says:

For anyone who say’s they can’t dance is definitely incorrect. I would like to hear them say that again if they won the lottery :)

The truth is, dancing isn’t done by a series of steps, but by a series of emotions.

If you feel good, dancing is easy, hence why girls love guys who are willing to dance ‘cos its the best demonstration of not caring what people think about you. Plus you’re generally there to have fun… The women will see this and will no doubt want to join in…

  3. PHARAOH says:

This can be a nice addition, but I feel like its more important to just be in the moment and not care what people think.

  4. Tung says:

Just dance and be the moment. Remember that you are the prize and not the them.

Seriously most guys dont need to know how to dance if they can talk to women.

    What would women prefer?

A good breakdancer or a show off?

Or a sensitive good guy that just talk to women understand them and dont need to show off anything?

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick titbit on learning to dance:

Get a good teacher and find a good dance group. You don’t have to try and become incredible, just go and learn a few moves. I went for a couple of lessons and just loosened up my body.
Dance groups are also a great place to meet girls. They never have enough guys to dance with, they will be fighting over you! Trust me.

    Have fun guys.

    Regards,
    JonDoe.

When it comes to dancing, I’m not even sure going to a dance class is the best way. Sure it can give you a few moves, but like Onder says, to me it seems like the feeling you put into it is far more important.

If you want to be a good dancer, then lock the door to your room, take down any mirrors, play a tune you like really loudly, and let loose. Don’t try and practice in a mirror, because you’ll be constantly worrying about how you look. Just let the music infect you. Don’t feel like a dick cause you’re doing it on your own in your room… if you feel like a dick there, then you’ll never get over yourself in a club. Just have a good time.

I don’t even do this for practice, I just do it for fun (and Im not ashamed to admit it). Music is just such a big part of me, my family and my life, that I just love loosing myself in it. I’ve never had dance lessons, but when I’m on the dance floor I’m constantly told how my moves are good.

And they’re not, my moves are crap really, but the difference is I’m just going for it without giving a crap about anything or anyone. Its the one part of my game that comes naturally to me.

Just loosen those muscles till you don’t give a crap. Don’t worry about breakdancing or showing off. If the music is infecting you, then you will infect the other dancers and they will come to you.

If you are seriously worried about how you look on the dancefloor, then maybe learning a few moves will improve your confidence, just as if you’re constantly worried about how you look then taking some style tips may help you feel better. But seriously, the ultimate goal is to just not give a crap. That will attract so much more.

And even without the context of picking up, I would recommend anyone to truly try to shut your eyes and lose yourself in the music, its such a brilliant experience to just let yourself go.

Some great posts here folks, I really understand how you are trying to ’free’ people from their fears of dancing. However, what I am advising is something from the musically illiterate amongst us. This is for all the people with two left feet.

It’s true, loosening up and dancing in the moment can be great. For the lucky few it can even look like dancing; however, it’s not like that for everybody. You could put me in my bedroom for the next few years with nothing but the DVD dirty dancing or Step up to the streets (depending on your generation) and a couple of good dance albums and I would still come out looking like a cross between a one legged pigeon and Trevor McDonald.

Some people can naturally feel music, they can feel and move with the beat. It’s like when you hear a really loud bass and it’s moving in four beat time and you tap your foot 1,2,3,4. I’ll admit, this works great for some people. However, for the rest of us ‘feeling the music’ or ‘getting lost in the sound’ just wont work. Out in the club you will look clumsy and out of time. This is what this whole post is about, getting something that we can grab hold of and say, “ok, so this is how it’s done”.

Gabriel, you say that music is a big part of your life; this is going to translate to the floor. For the musically stunted among us, this isn’t going to happen. This is why I still strongly advice going to some kind of class. The experience is great and the buzz that everyone is doing something fun is fantastic. I like feeling like I am doing something controlled. You can keep all your ’music should be free’. Let me free and I look like a fish out of water, flopping around on the bank. Instead I like to have a bit of form, something to work with.

I would also like to make a point that if you travel abroad cultures and therefore the way people dance changes. If you dance freely that can look great in our clubs; however, take that to a more formal environment and you are screwed! Guys, I fully advice that you grab a few lessons. Not just as a confidence boost, but for the experience. Yes in the end you can loose yourself in the music, have a great time and set your inhibitions free. Learning to dance is fun, it’s another experience to talk about. Do it once, you wont regret it.

    Have fun,
    JonDoe.

    Hey Guys Noel Here.

I noticed that this topic is sparking up a lot of chords in that some guys think its an asset to be a great dancer, and some think its just more important to let yourself go and have fun, some think use other PUA skills to seduce a woman etc etc

Well today in work I had a great day!Lots of fun, and plenty of female opinions on the topic of

” If a guy is a good dancer, is he more attractive”

which turns out is a pretty good opener lol

And the answer of course was VARIED. The more I study PU the more I REALISE that there is more than one answer to a question, even though they might all be right)

The responses Varied, Lets take the obvious response

Bare in mind now these are responses I am putting here for your benefits, not to start a “blog war” lol

    RESPONSE 1

“Yes it does make a guy more attractive if for example a girl goes out with the guy, he won’t embarass her by being a poor dancer. So this ties in with the male being accepted by the girls social group. Very important.”

    RESPONSE 2

“Yes it does make a guy more attractive becuse he “stands out” from other guys in a club. If he has coordination and balance, he is fit, therefore good in bed. This kind of fits in the evolutionary phase, that more “fit” males are selected

    Other responses I got were

No it doesn’t make him more attractive, if anything makes him look gay or a bit poserish. The girl should always be a better dancer than the guy.

    Another response

It would make him more attractive learning how to dance, however, if he showed off his skills too much, I wouldnt like that!

Now the respones I got today were varied, mostly stating that it would make him more attractive in some sort of way. It COULD be argued that dancing is some sort of non verbal communication and if done correctly, you could be communicating some great things like confidence and fitness!

Whats the take home message from my days research….

Learning how to dance is of benefit to you, mostly. For every girl that thinks your a poser, you will probably find that 6 or 7 will like it. However don’t flaunt your a great dancer as you will come across as “try hard” However Dancing is not a skil neccessary in PU, as there are other ways to seduce a girl so don’t worry if you cant dance as you can use other methods of PU. It is just another skill that could possibly help you

On the topic of “letting go and just moving to the music” I agree this will work also, but might not be as affective as being a great dancer!! Think of it like Justin timberlake style moves, or a guy who just moves with no coordination. The professional dancer would win, most of the time!

    Hope this Helps

    Cheers, Noel

Personaly i think im a great dancer… i have “it” the sense off timing rythem and flow and love to loose myself in the music… but i noticed awhile ago that my mate who couldnt dance for beans would get more attention, 1. because i was more involved in the music as i love to dance 2. the girls didnt like being shown up on there moves.
and 3. because my mate couldnt dance he would get embarssed and start being doing silly things which would make the girls laugh. bingo the game starts for him
