Listen up all you ‘pickup artists’, we are now gonna play a fun little game we can call ‘sarcastic romantic terminology’. The aim of the game is to come up with the most anti-romantic pickup terms and use your creativity to come up with a romantic alternative. Remember that the alternative romantic term still refers to the same thing it’s just a sarcastically romantic way of referring to it.

Let’s see who can come up with the most creative romantic alternative terminologies! Feel free to use the new terminologies to be extra stealthy and never be suspected as ‘pickup artists’ but as ‘romantics’ lol!!! Not that a PUA can’t be romantic of course : )

Here are some to get you started:

Pickup Artist

Boyfriend Destroyer Pattern

Neg The Target

LTR (long term relationship)

AFC (average frustrated chump)

Routine

DHV (demonstration of higher value)

DLV (demonstration of lower value)

IOD (indicator of disinterest)

IOI (indication of interest)

SOI (statement of interest)

Calibrate

Routine Stack(ing)

HB

The 10 Scale

F-Close

N-Close

K-Close

Everyone feel free to add to the above list so everyone can come up with as many sarcastically romantic terms as possible!

Pickup Artist – Mystery already has this down – he calls himself a ‘Venusian Artist’. He IS being sarcastic, right?

I think he actually means it when he says ‘Venusian Artist’. I think the ‘Artist’ bit detracts from its romantic value.

Ok, I think I’ll have to go back a couple of centuries in order to get the ‘feeling’ of the era and be as romantic as possible to explain these terms!!

HB: A lady. hopefully with exceptionally good looks

DHV: an opportunity for the gentleman to convey his characteristics in order to attract the lady

DLV: when the gentleman says something that doesn’t have the effect he wanted so as a result he embarasses himself.

IOI: When the lady shows subtle indications of het attraction to the gentleman

10 scale: a measurement method of how the gentleman perceives the value of the lady

    N-close: I don’t know… What’s a telephone?? (they weren’t so popular at the time)

Routine stack: when both parties realize that they have so much to talk about

AFC: a gentleman who is not known for his good skills with the oppossite sex

PUA: a gentleman who is ‘out on the pull!!’ (no matter what period of time there were always some of those!!!!)

  8. Gambler says:

Loving this stuff guys! I personally HATE all the PUA terminology and the fact that i’m associated with it. Women hate it, the media hate it. It cheapens what we do and limits the industry. If someone could create a new set of terminology and have these spread we’d all be able to talk about it and come out from the shadows.

  9. Ayman says:

Ditto… another one I hate – SARGING! Can’t we just go out and have a good time? Surely meeting women is a part of that??

  10. Richard says:

Here are some ridiculous terms to break down a simple interaction. Im sure we will all be using them next time we’re out…!!!

TD- Target Distracted. For those times when you approach a target and then moments before you speak to her she is interupted by a friend or gets a phone call. The best thing to do in this situation is…

ANPT- Approach Nearest Potential Target. Get into conversation and then wait for your original target to finish her call. When she has, do this…

ATA- Approach Target Again! This time open her and judge the mood of the set. Sets can be a variety of things, either…

    WS- Warm Set
    or
    CS- Cold Set
    or
CUSHS- Could Use Some Heat Set.

If the set needs warming up, use this…

IWIS- Inject warmth into the set, do this by…

    DTYA- Demonstrating That You’re Amazing.
    or
    GOYB- Getting Out Your Biceps.

and by this point the girl should be in your arms!
    So just to reiterate, heres what to do;

    ANPT
    ATA
    CUSHS
    IWIS
    DTYA
    GYBO

    It’s Simple! lol

mmmm i personally don´t have any problems with the PUA terminology, in some cases i kinda feel is good since you can say a lot of stuff in front of the HB to your wings and the Hb thinks “well, just inner jokes between them” or something like that, however nos is kinda of public doman cause of so many pick up tv shows and stuff, not that is a bad thing either.

  12. Dexterity says:

I’m still sitting on the fence about the pick up terminology, I get that it does ‘cheapen’ the whole thing, but at the same time it allows us to quickly communicate and convey otherwise complex topics and ideas to each other. I think it also helps to have a simple term for a complex idea so that when you do have your head around the whole concept you then have a single mental ‘file’ to reference it under. When I first started to get into pickup 10 months ago it all seemed like a foreign language and that I would never be able to get my head around these concepts, now through learning theory and applying it in the field, I understand these concepts and rattle them off my tongue without a second thought. If there was better terminology I might adopt it instead, but with so much material already out there using the existing terminology I believe (maybe a limiting belief in all fairness) that it would be a very difficult task to go about changing it.
I think it’s also become quite convenient in communication between PUAs, much the way online chat and text message abbreviations took off a few years ago, and the current trend in gaming speak with online video games, and with that last example I can see how it might alienate some guys from getting involved.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that what we currently have works for its original intended purpose, but is far from perfect for the way things are developing. I think it would be good to have some new terms that are less daunting for the ‘newbies’…. or the ‘n00bs’ :-) lol
Sometimes I do have to wonder though… is it better the devil you know?

  13. Maistro says:

    IOI – Affectionate signing
    HB – Angellike
    N-Close – Warming digit dialing
    Neg – Sharing love status
    AFC – Kind woman lover
Pickup Artist – Spontanius Love Guru

If I’m not wrong, I also think we should change the way ppl look upon PUA’s. We have been marked as some kind of womanizers with our only goal is that we want to prosper from our earlier life.
We should make it clear that this doesn’t gain just us, it also gains the women and future children probably.
    Think about it! Peace out…

  14. Joker says:

Just to add to what Dexterity said, I think the PUA terminology is good in the way that it allows you to covertly convey established ideas (and the theories behind them) quickly and easily.

People might say that it cheepens what we do, but at the same time I think people read into things what they will: a lot of people don’t like the idea of “The Community”, thinking the whole thing is cheep, so obviously they’re going to pick holes in our choice of descriptive language. All they’re really doing is projecting their reality and meaning onto the terminology, as by themselves, the words are meaningless.

I quite like the terminology for my above stated reasons, therefore I don’t feel it cheepens what we do. Maybe it limits the industry, but what we do speaks for itself. Whatever terminology you use, it’s ultimately only a label. If someone was looking for something they tend to find it; I guess the real question is does it really cheepen things, or do you just hate using it because it’s a bit geeky?
